Product Designer - Aviation

Garmin, Olathe, KS

  • Initiated the UX, UI, and visual identity of a new flight planning website, distilling ambiguous direction, user research, and legacyproducts into high fidelity prototypes and developer documentation in Figma
  • Developed and manage web, iOS, and icon design systems from scratch with a combined 1,035 components, 213 styles, and 4,337components used weekly across 8 teams
  • Defined and implemented visual design languages for new products, ensuring cohesive design consistency across multiple platforms. Led strategic presentations to senior leadership, securing stakeholder alignment and expediting project timelines by 3 months through effective risk mitigation and proactive design planning
  • Managed and facilitated weekly design review sessions for a team of 7 designers, providing actionable feedback, ensuring adherence to design standards, and driving alignment across mobile and web projects. Presented insights and taught best practices to ensure consistent application of design systems and WCAG 2.2 accessibility guidance
